Molly & I were going out in the car, one evening.  When we drove past Earnarst's house - place where many luxury cars are parked, we had to wait for a while as black topping of the road was going on.  Few of his drivers were standing by the side of the road and watching the operation.  One young driver walked up to us and appreciated our car - old but cute Zen.  He picked up a conversation with Molly.  Found out the year of the model and enquired whether it is for sale.  When the answer was negative, he requested to let him know as and when we decide to sell the car.  He also mentioned that it is because of his son, who is pestering him to buy a car to drop him in the school.  Molly asked him how old is his son?  The Answer was, 'two years'!

West to East - My India Holiday

We have recently finished a 3 week holiday in India. We saw a lot of the country from the frantic city of Chennai to the peaceful hillside town of Conoor and finally the lush vegetation of Goa. The stunning landscapes of the Western Ghats was truly amazing to see. Similarly the Portuguese forts and churches spread throughout Goa are spectacular. While the trip was excellent from start to finish a personal low point was when I was extremely sick on the final day of our stay in the Nilgiris! On the other hand, a highlight was definitely the Onam lunch Ammama made. She cooked up an array of delicacies that included 2 kinds of Kerala payasam. My favourite experience of that day was wearing a mundu! It was very nice meeting up with all of my family in India. 

All in all, an excellent trip!

'Treat cheyyatha doctor'

When we were about to leave the home stay, after lunch, to the Coonoor railway station, last week, Akash had a severe tummy upset.  He vomited and felt slightly relieved thereafter.

 

Molly was upset as it had happened just before the long journey to Chennai.  She quickly made a search in her handbag and took out the last capsule of 'Omaze', which is usually prescribed by Valsa(Dr) for stomach disorders!  As Rana was not familiar with the brand name, he looked for the generic name. But he could not find it.  So he did not give the capsule to Akash.

 

Akash had a tiring two and a half hours journey to Mettupalayam.  There was a long break of over two hours to catch the connecting train to Chennai and the time was good enough to go to the town and buy any medicine required.  Rana thought it was not necessary.

 

But Molly was not convinced.  She told me to talk to Jubin to find out what is to be done in this circumstance.  I told her when there is a doctor with us, why talk to another?

 

She immediately said ' ithu treat cheyyatha doctor alle?! '

 

After the night's sleep on the train Akash was back to normal.  He was hungry and ate few hot 'dosas' as soon as we reached home, early in the morning!

Hearty congratulations Pavithra on your securing admission in Christian Medical College, Ludhiana.  Your determination and hard work for the past couple of years had finally given the desired result.  Remember you are the first from the third generation in our family to take up this noble profession.  And going to be the inspiration for many others to follow your footsteps!  Do well.  God bless.

I am afraid, the couple of days of my interaction with our bright, young techies in Bangalore inspired me to think out of box. Have you heard of this Malayalam saying:  ‘Mulla podi yettu kidakkum kallinu mundu saurabhyam?’  (‘Even the stones around jasmine plant will collect its fragrance’).  This is the beginning of the story of our ‘Nadackavil Blog’.

So here we go hi-tech!  We have a  blog of our own.  Hope you welcome this step.
